Mary Ellen was born March 30th, 1953 in Oklahoma City, to William H. “Bill” and Edith Olivia “Libby” Kluck. She was a 1971 graduate of Edmond High School and she married Richard “Dicky” Watkins on August 31, 1973. Mary Ellen was raised as a member of Peace Lutheran Church and later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church after she married and moved to Morris, OK. She and Dick raised two beautiul and caring children. Mary had a passion for photography and art. In her early years, she was always with a camera and even developed a lot of her own work. She had a love for art and enjoyed painting, clay sculpting, making jewelry, carving, bead work and many other forms of art. She had a love for animals and grew up riding horses on Edmond dirt roads which are now major thoroughfares.
Mary worked at Morris Public Schools for many years and moved from assisting special needs children in the grade school to being the High School Secretary. Her love for helping children carried on through her career. She worked for Green Country Vo-Tech for a number of years before moving back to Edmond to help take care of her mother and father. She and Dick took over her family’s business at Kluck Saw Service for several years and she decided to go back in to public schools. She began working at Edmond Memorial High School, where she retired on February 1, 2018 as the Principal’s Secretary. Mary Ellen enjoyed all the friendships that she made throughout her career and cherished each of them deeply. She had a personality that was hard not to like. She loved to talk and people loved talking to her.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Libby Kluck, 2 brothers Tom and Dick Kluck and sister Donna Lee Roberson. She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 ½ years, Richard “Dicky” Watkins of Edmond; son Richard “Andy” Watkins and his wife Candy of Bixby; daughter Olivia Watkins and Chad Williamson of Oklahoma City; 3 grandchildren Ashlee, Montgomery and Christopher, 1 grandcriter Lilly; 1 great granddaughter Eliza; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mercy Cancer Center Staff and Option Care Home Health Staff for all of their support during her journey.
Memorial Services will be held at Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmond on Saturday, February 17th @ 11:00AM.
