Mary Alice was born on December 8, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to Carl E. Scheihing and Hazel (Capron) Scheihing of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Mary Alice grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and attended Guthrie High School where she graduated in 1956.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1959, Mary Alice married John Charles “J.C.” Swanson of Crescent, Oklahoma. They then moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where they owned and operated Swanson’s Furniture Store from the early 1960’s until 1979. Then Mary Alice and J.C. started, owned, and operated J.C. Swanson’s Fireplace and Patio Store in Edmond, Oklahoma from September, 1994, until its closing in September, 2020.
Mary Alice was preceded in death, by her parents, Carl E. Scheihing and Hazel (Capron) Scheihing; brother, Carlton E. Scheihing; and the love of her life, husband, John Charles “J.C.” Swanson. Mary Alice is survived by son, Charles Allen “Al” Swanson of Edmond, OK; daughter, Beverly (Swanson) Hayden and husband Robert W. “Bob”, also of Edmond; and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.
