James Clyde Lichliter left this world to be with Jesus on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the age of 70. Jim was born to Max and Frances Lichliter on November 26, 1946 in Lubbock, TX. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Sandy Lichliter; sister Donna Lewis-Hall & husband Earl; son Derek Wall & wife Lynn and grandsons Micah and Carson; granddaughter Lindsay Mallon & husband Michael; grandson Tyler Beck & wife Whitney; granddaughter Elizabeth; step-daughter Jennifer Robinson & husband Dennis; son Brian Lichliter & wife Cindy; daughter Christi Simmons & husband Tim; daughter Lori Kelly; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved.
After graduating from Del City High School, Jim went to Florida to join the St. Louis Cardinals in spring training as a catcher. His baseball career was cut short when he received a draft notice and joined the Marines. As a member of the Marines Jim completed two tours in Vietnam. During his service Jim was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. After returning from Vietnam he continued his service to our country as a member of the Army Reserves for 20 years while working at Tinker Air Force Base for 31 years.
A memorial service honoring Jim’s life will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the sanctuary of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73120. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jim's memory be directed to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73120
