Helen Christina Root

Helen Christina Root, the first born child of Floyd and Oleta Fesler, was born March 23, 1931 in Luther, Oklahoma, and went to be with our Lord December 23, 2023 in Montgomery, Texas with her loving daughter by her side. Helen graduated Luther High School and on October 9, 1950 married the love of her life Phillip Root. They lived their entire life in Oklahoma and Texas as work required a few relocations. Helen worked as a bookkeeper or seamstress while always finding time to be a Campfire Girls leader, gardener, Church Worker and attend every sporting event possible of her children and grandchildren. Hobbies included quilting and camping with her family. Helen was a member of the Church of Christ, Hydro Oklahoma.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 64 years Phillip Root, parents Floyd and Oleta Fesler, two brothers Edwin and George Fesler, sister in law Patsy Fesler and grandson Michael Becker.

She is survived by her children: David Root and wife Marsha of Canute OK, Jan Becker and husband Mike of Montgomery TX, Harold Root and wife Lisa of Eakly, OK and adopted daughter Helen Camron and husband Sam of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her sister Elsie Estes and husband Dave of Ardmore, OK. Helen was adored by her grandchildren: Tracy Beutler, Daniel Lucus, Meredith Upshaw, Gregory Root, Britini Humphreys, Devon Becker, and Whitini Drouard; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Genesis Senior Care and especially Ebony for the loving care provided to Helen.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. Interment will follow at Luther Cemetery.
