Gene learned the power of a positive attitude early in life. This positive outlook and his magnetic personality served him well and lead to success in all that he did. Gene honorably and with great pride served in the US Navy at Okinawa during WWII aboard the USS Marcus Island. He made his mark on the business world as well. He was an owner and sales manager at Gilt Edge Farms, Norman, OK, created his own business: Parsons and Associates Advertising Agency, and at the age of 70, served as the executive director of the Oklahoma Pork Council.
He also developed a motivational training program called “Attitude equals Image” that outlined the principles by which he lived. He continued to deliver his unique brand of motivational seminars until the age of 86.
Gene truly loved the Lord and faithfully served as a greeter at LifeChurch for many years. He leaves cherished memories with the love of his life, Janine, his wife of 23 years; his son: John Parsons of Dallas TX; his daughter: Jane Lackey of Dallas TX; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmond from 6 to 8 pm. Services to celebrate his extraordinary life will be at 2pm, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at LifeChurch (4600 East 2nd Street, Edmond). Interment will follow at Memorial Park in OKC.
