She was born in Joplin, Missouri, April 3, 1909, to William and Addie Gregory.
Florence moved to the Edmond area when she was a young teenager. While waitressing in a local cafe, she met her future husband, Buss Rogers. Soon after meeting, they were married July 17, 1926.
During their life together, they raised three daughters, Rheba, Beverly, Kathy, and a son, Jim.
Florence was a waitress, a short order cook, a telephone operator, and in the late 50s, she opened her home as a day care provider. She loved taking care of children and made it her profession for 23 years. She helped raise numerous children, and later, their children. Many of them kept in contact with her up until the time of her death. Florence was also known throughout the community for her cooking and baking. She was an accomplished seamstress, a voracious reader, and enjoyed her soap operas. Florence was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Edmond and always looked forward to visits from her Sunday school class friends.
Florence is preceeded in death by her parents, William and Addie Gregory, her husband, Buss Rogers, two daughters, Rheba Rogers Mims, Beverly Rogers Eddings, son in laws, Jack Mims, Jay Eddings, and a grand daughter, Shelly Eddings Tsoodle.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Jim and Pam Rogers of Edmond, a daughter and son in law, Kathy and Andy Towles of Edmond, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, october 30, 2010 at baggerley Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
