Born 21 Nov 1924 at Hinton, OK, to Frank and Ina (McCarley) Wilson, he was third of six children. He attended Hinton Schools and lived all his life in central Oklahoma. He worked for Johnson’s Wood Flooring for 20 years before taking a job with Oklahoma County District 3 road crew for another 18 years, retiring about 1995.
He married Ruth Reynolds and they were parents of one daughter, Janie. Later he married Georgie Coffee in 1962 at Canton and they became parents of daughter Cindy Lou in 1967. After Georgie’s death, Ed married Charlene (Johnston) Frazier 14 September 1997 in the church at Edmond and he became very close to her son Joe and her daughter Vylinda, who helped care for him in his final illness. Ed and Charlene had lots of fun times together going to Blue Grass Festivals and other special events, and celebrating family occasions with extended family. Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed spoiling grandson Jerry Don and granddaughter Jamie Colten. Ed and Charlene regularly attended the Freewill Baptist Church near their home.
Ed is survived by his daughter Cindy Colten and her husband Jay of Jones, OK, his daughter Janie Trent and husband Winston of Carnegie, Charlene’s son Joe Frazier of the home, her daughters Vylinda Dauphin and husband Monte of Spencer, Carolyn Parks and husband Jay of Edmond, all their amazing children and grandchildren, a special nephew, Brian Wilson of Moore, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Melvin of California, Josh and Russell, both of Oklahoma City, and one sister Lucille Bashara of Tuttle, OK. He is survived by one sister, Betty Morgan and her husband Ronnie of Bethany.
Pall bearers were Jon Heavener of OKC, Monte Dauphin of Spencer, Brian Wilson of Moore, Bob Mefford of Crescent, and James Leonard of Buffalo.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday April 30 at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway in Edmond, with graveside services at Canton Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to leave messages and share memories online at www.baggerley.com.
