All of sudden, brain failure and memory loss disease destroyed Dr. Bill Stockwell and took him forever from us at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the age of 71. He had a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer's disease that he had for four years. His disease was a shock to every one of us and left behind a mysterious wondering and doubt, of what happened to him. Bill was born to Mary Jo Stockwell, and adopted by his stepfather William D. Stockwell, both of whom predeceased Bill. He loved his mom very much.
Bill was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on August 22, 1951 and passed away in Oklahoma City. Bill pursued Phd. in Math from University of Oklahoma. Bill was a tenured professor at the University of Central Oklahoma for 40 years, and the Lord endowed him with tremendous academic ability that was seen through his teaching and shared with his students. Bill worked most of his life doing what he loved -working with computers, programming and math. Bill loved and enjoyed his UCO colleague professor’s and his students from all over the world. He was always enthusiastic for proving unsolved mathematics like the Hilbert Space, but he left this Earth before proving it, along with many other math scholar’s before him.
He loved and cherished his professionalism of math and computer science. He was also was an excellent computer programmer for Exxon Oil, the FAA and several other companies. Bill especially enjoyed building scientific software for the FAA, like landing and take-off flight simulator, with his fellow professor’s team.
Bill also enjoyed books, war games, OU football, guns, model train sets, hamburgers, drinking Coke and heavy sugared sweet-tea. He is a patriot to his country and as a conservative political party affiliate, Bill always liked to talk with people for political critique, concerns and views. He was a family man who loved deeply, who was devoted and sacrificed many things for his family. Bill was a good old American man who was friendly, a loving father and loving and sincere husband.
We pray that he is with the Lord Jesus and is painless, in peace, and resting forever. Bill is survived by his wife Mia, daughter, Lisa, son, William Jr., daughter, Pam, family daughter Cecilia Kim (whom Bill help raise), friend and care-giver, Dean, brothers, Mike and Brent, his
loving dog and cat, Bokdori(복도리) and KIMberly, as well as other relatives and friends.
Bill loves us and you all, forever.
We will love you, Bill, everlasting good-bye.
