Donald W. Tilley, 84, died unexpectedly March 17, 2023, at Mercy Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born December 18, 1938, in Duncan, OK, the son of Leslie Price Tilley and Mary Louise (Holman) Tilley.
Don graduated from Fox High School in 1957. Following graduation, Don knew what he wanted to do; he started working in the Oil and Gas industry on the ground floor. He worked every position that the oil field had to offer, from a truck driver to a rig hand, to working his way up starting multiple different companies from Tilley Dozer’s, Cajun Mud and Chemicals, DonCo, and working for Stride Well Service for many years, all while still overseeing Tilley Oil and Gas, Inc., over the last 50+ years. It was during this time while he was becoming a self-made man in the Oil Field, that he met Connie Hinshaw of Enid, Oklahoma and started dating in 1965.
Don married the love of his life on May 9, 1966, and settled down in Enid, Oklahoma. Don helped start the Enid Oilman’s Association and was the originator of the 2-man golf tournament that the Enid Oilman’s are known for to this day. Don also chaired the President seat for Enid Oilman’s for two terms. He was with the OIPA for over 55 years, and stood two terms as Vice President of Oakwood Country Club Board of Director’s. Don was also part of the Wildcatter’s Petroleum Alliance Energy Explorers for over 5o years as well.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Wayne Tilley, sister Sylvia Tilley Nelson and granddaughter Sydney Tilley-Bedick.
Don leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Connie A. Tilley, daughters: Radonna Tilley of Yukon, OK, Rhonda Tipton and husband Rick of Tulsa, OK, Cathy Gammon of Edmond, OK,
Kelly Marsh and husband Don of Surrey Hills, OK, Amber
Tilley-Bedick and husband Jeff of Cashion, OK, nine grandchildren: Ashley Gammon Johnson, Cory Marsh, Chassen Marsh, Alyson Marsh Cain, Abby Marsh Betts, Tiffany DeSautell, Tate Tilley-Bedick, Neeley Tilley-Bedick, Gage Tilley-Bedick. Don is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends he loved dearly. He loved life, people, and dancing the night away with his love Connie.
A memorial service for Donald will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Heritage Baptist Church, 14317 N. Council Road, Oklahoma City, OK.
