Born on June 29, 1959, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Alfred and Faye Jones (Turbeville), Diana was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she spent her childhood riding horses with her siblings, exploring the woods, and playing softball. She graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1977. On October 20, 1978, Diana married the love of her life, Michael Freeman, and together they built a beautiful family with their two children, Michael Jr. and Ashley.
From an early age, Diana exhibited a strong work ethic and took pride in every task she undertook. In the early 1980s, she and her best friend Pam opened a successful cleaning business that thrived for 20 years. In her final working years, she devoted herself to caring for elderly women, finding great fulfillment in helping others—a value she passed on to her children.
Diana loved being outdoors, especially in the mountains of Colorado, which she visited often throughout her life. Her home in the woods was a sanctuary, where she cherished sitting on the back porch, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature and her peaceful pond. Music played a special role in her life, with Fleetwood Mac being a favorite. She enjoyed attending concerts and letting music fill her days.
She was gifted in crocheting, creating cherished blankets for her grandchildren, and was also a talented bowler and pool player, winning several competitions. Diana found joy in reading western novels and solving jigsaw puzzles, immersing herself in quiet, rewarding pastimes.
Diana’s legacy lies in the values she instilled in her children—hard work, compassion, kindness, courage, and resilience. Her children inherited her strength and determination, as well as her ability to face life’s challenges head-on. She never gave up, embodying a fighting spirit until the very end.
Above all, Diana treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren, who she supported, encouraged, and loved deeply. She delighted in their activities, shared conversations, warm hugs, and bright smiles. Diana was a kind and compassionate woman, always willing to sacrifice for her loved ones, and her loyalty was unwavering.
Her beautiful smile, laughter, and carefree spirit will be profoundly missed. Though her absence leaves a deep void, those who loved her find comfort in knowing she is with our Lord Jesus Christ, with a renewed body and mind. We cherish the precious memories she leaves behind and hold onto the hope of being reunited in eternity. Until we meet again, fly high our sweet angel!
Diana is preceded in death by her brother, Alan Jones, and her parents, Alfred and Faye Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Michael Freeman; her son, Michael Freeman Jr., and his wife, Marinda; her daughter, Ashley Stringer, and her husband, Daniel; her grandchildren, Emily, Kolten, Grayson, Carly, Ashlyn, and Dylan; her great-granddaughter, Korra; her sister, Sheila Aaron, and her husband, Bryan; her sisters, Shelby, Susan, and April; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her cherished cat, Oscar.
