Christopher (Chris) Thomas Caplinger, a caring husband, father, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend left this world on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with illness.
Chris was born November 14th, 1962 to A.C. and Rena Caplinger in Oklahoma City; he moved with his family at age 5 to Edmond when his dad opened a veterinary practice on Broadway. Chris graduated from Edmond Memorial in 1981 and was a member of the golf team that won the first, of now many, state championships for the school. After graduating he attended the Police Academy and became an Edmond Police Officer and served his community for the next 20 years. Chris married his high school sweetheart Tiffany Bower on September 29th, 1984.
Chris had many interests throughout his life and found success and accolades in almost everything he sought out. Bodybuilding was one of those interests that became a lifelong passion; Chris shared that passion with all that knew him well. However, Chris’ greatest joy was his family. He was always the biggest and loudest supporter and never missed a chance to be involved. With three little ones the schedule was always packed with games or activities; Chris and Tiffany often going in opposite directions to make sure the kids were there on time and in they were in the stands to cheer them on.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother and father, Rena & A.C. Caplinger and his father-in-law Mike Bower. Chris is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tiffany & their three children Alec, Carly and Dylan. Mother-in-law Sonnie Bower; sisters-in-law Courtney and husband Michael Plummer; and Lacey Bower. Chris has three sisters he always looked out for; Susan Andrews, Cindy Narcomey & Pam and husband John McLish. The family would like to recognize the selfless act of kindness Kym Ballinger dedicated to Chris in November, 2012. A celebration of life for Chris Caplinger will be held from 2:00p – 4:00p on Saturday, January 7th at 101 E. 5th, Edmond, OK 73034 (American Legion Building). To live in the hearts we leave behind is to never die. Rest easy Big Cap.
