Cheryl Mae Bullington Parker passed away on March 13, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1927, in Cullison, Kansas, the fourth of seven siblings. Cheryl graduated from Ponca City High School in 1945, where she played basketball, acted in a play, and played the French Horn.
After high school, Cheryl worked in shoe sales in Pasadena, California, and later for Continental Oil Company in Ponca City. In 1947, she married Royce Parker, a World War II Navy veteran, and they were together for 58 years. They had four children: Charles, Kathryn, Teresa, and Philip.
Cheryl’s family lived in Newton, Kansas, where she worked for the Harvey County Clerk’s office, and later in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where she worked for General Telephone and served as church secretary for the Broken Arrow church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, fishing trips, cooking, and playing games like Mexican Train, Liverpool Rummy, and Nertz.
After Royce’s retirement, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. Cheryl taught children’s Bible classes in Newton and Broken Arrow, and later served as a group leader in the Memorial Road church’s Women’s Ministry in Edmond. She was skilled in sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, making quilts for her family and others, and knitting caps for premature babies. She also volunteered with Edmond Hospital’s Pink Lady Team.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Royce, her parents Amos and Gennie Bullington, and several siblings. She is survived by her four children, 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and member of the church.
The family will be hosting a memorial service for Cheryl, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E. Memorial Road, Edmond, OK 73013
