Charles “Dick” Johns, 77, passed away October 16, 2020. Dick was born October 17, 1942, in New Castle, PA to Lucille Vargo and Julio “Bones” Johns who preceded him in death. He was raised by his grandparents, John and Grace Sankey. Dick graduated from high school in New Wilmington, PA in 1960 and earned his associate’s degree in Accounting from New Castle Business School.
In 1970, Dick started his career with Niles Expanded Metal in Ohio. While he was working at Niles Expanded Metal in Ohio, his children Tim and Shelly Johns were born and in 1979, he and his family moved to Edmond, OK, to work for Chandler Expanded Metal with his lifelong friend, Dale Ketler. He started his first company, AQUABI, where they manufactured hot tubs (spas); and from there he founded Jetta Products, Inc, in Edmond, OK, again manufacturing whirlpool bathtubs, spas, and solid surface countertops for several years. In 2013, he started Baths by Shay in Edmond, OK manufacturing solid surface material.
While at Jetta Products, he met Sharon, never knowing that one day they would fall in love and marry. They were married on November 26, 2004 in Longboat Key, FL, surrounded by their children and grandchild, Jackson. They shared the love of walking the beach, spending time with grandchildren and cherished life and time spent together with family. Dick was very active, coaching softball and basketball and was a mentor to many. He loved his grandchildren, spending time at the beach and playing sports.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Johns; son Tim (Lynn) Johns; daughter Shelly (Adam) Nye; daughter Michelle Cordray; daughter Melissa (Tom) Ramirez; sister Elizabeth “Sis” (John) Ferrel; grandchildren: Jackson, Olivia, Sydney, Natalia, & Lydia.
