Bobby “Bob” Lee Ross passed away June 27, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. Bob was born in 1929 to W.D. “Bud” and Ethel Ross on a farm west of Fairview, OK. Bob graduated from Fairview High School in 1946 at the age of 17. With permission from his mother, Bob joined the army. He served 18 months in occupied Japan during WWII. He was recalled in 1950 during the Korean conflict.
From 1949 to 1950 Bob worked for Federal Crop Insurance as an adjuster, 1951 to 1956 Allied Finance, 3 years in OKC then transferred to Albuquerque, NM in 1954. Bob worked for National Food and Freezer from 1956 to 1957. From 1958 to 1964 he was a financial counselor at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. In 1964, he was the business office manager for Presbyterian hospital until 1972, at which time he became the director of patient accounts services at Presbyterian, coordinating the activities of 14 hospitals in New Mexico. Bob retired in 1988.
In February of 1950, Bob married Betty Lowe. Upon Betty’s death in 2000, Bob began traveling in an RV. He traveled extensively for two and a half years before taking up residence in Edmond, OK. Bob married Carole Wolf in November of 2003.
Bob is preceded in death by his wives Betty and Carole, sons Lee and Eric Ross, Daughter Elizabeth Ross, and grandson Bric Ross. Bob is survived by Eden Ross of OKC.
Bob’s career accomplishments include serving as a board member of the Consumer’s Credit Association for 20 years. In 1965 he assisted in establishing the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of ABQ. For 23 years, Bob was a credit counselor and board member, 3 of these years as president. He was a certified Consumer Credit Executive, the highest level of recognition of professional competency granted by the Society of Certified Consumer Credit Executives. For 8 years, Bob was a board member of the New Mexico Central Credit Union, 2 of those years he served as president. Bob held a license as a Collection Agency Manager in New Mexico. He was also a representative for Presbyterian Hospital to the Better Business Bureau.
Bob served as president of the Methodist Men’s Club at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. He was also a Boy Scout leader while a member of St. Paul’s.
Come-and-go visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family to greet friends form 5 p.m. 7 p.m. at Baggerley Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel.
