John Gillott

Born in Brooklyn, NY; on July 10, 1930, he was a son to the late Harold and Frances Gillott. John served his county in the United States Marine Corps and upon his honorable discharge remained enlisted state side in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. John spent most of his career employed by the New York City Police Department as Detective, retiring form that position in 1979. He then worked as Head of security for Merrill Lynch and Hilton.

John was a member of the Church of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg and in his retirement took up the game of golf. He was a member of the ROMEO golf group and enjoyed golfing at many of the local golf courses.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years; Frances Gillott, at home; daughter, Eloise Phillips and her husband Don of La Habra Heights, CA; sons, John E. Gillott of Strasburg, PA; James W. Gillott and his wife Chrissie of Sarasota, FL; and Mark Gillott and his wife Kitty of Huntington, NY; 8 grandchildren Aimee Gillott, Blake Gillott, Justin Gillott, Kelly Gillott, Mitchell Phillips, Gregory Phillips, Erin Gillott, and Timothy Gillott.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 3, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. in the Church of St. John Roman Catholic Church 5171 Milford Road East Stroudsburg, with Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Walsh celebrant. Interment will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery, Bryant Street, Stroudsburg.

Family and friends may call at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg on Tuesday October 2, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
