James N. Sargent, 72, of Kunkletown passed away Sunday January 3, 2021 while in the loving care of St. Luke’s Hospital- Bartonsville. He was the loving significant other of Gloria Brown Shupp who shared 4 years together. They have known each other since 1st grade.
Born June 15, 1948 in East Stroudsburg he was the son of the late Chester and Mildred (Detrick) Sargent of Stroudsburg.
Jim worked at Instrument specialties for many years, and made many friends who he was still in contact with. He was drafted in 1968 and was a jungle warrior, in Vietnam. Besides Gloria, ginger his dog was his joy. Jimmy was the VP on the Board of Officers of the VVA Pocono Chapter 678 and also Honor Guard of the Gilbert American Legion 927. Next to his love for music and his corvettes, his love for his fellow Veterans never wavered one bit, “6” (meaning of 6 our nickname for each other) I have your back! A real gentle giant he was.
He is survived by his loving forever partner in crime Gloria of Brodheadsville.
A viewing will be held on Friday January 8, 2021 from 10-11am followed by a prayer service at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg. A burial with Military Honors will be held at the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Due to recent health concerns and restrictions CCD guidelines will be followed including the number of people allowed in the building.
