Catherine Miraglia

Catherine Miraglia, 86, of East Stroudsburg and Yardley, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Salvatore J. Miraglia, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in Avoca, PA, the daughter of the late Charles & Bridget (Samsell) Jakulewicz.

Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved children and in her younger years influenced and cared for many children in her at-home child care. Her other true loves in life were church, gardening, cooking and reading a good book. She was a very loving and generous care giver to anyone in need. We have been blessed with her touching our lives. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by her son, Salvatore J. Miraglia, Jr. and wife, Debra of N. Canton, OH; son, Charles J. Miraglia and wife, Debra of Stroudsburg PA; daughter, Mary Africa and husband, Candido of Yardley, PA; daughter, Ann Demarest and partner Faust Ruggiero of Bangor, PA. Grandchildren Shendra DeOliviera, Michael Miraglia, David Miraglia, Charlene Africa Berry, Marley Demarest, Phillip Africa and Isabella Africa plus her 7 great grandchildren, Logan Miraglia, Malina Jo Miraglia, Meeka Miraglia, Carson Lee Miraglia, Sammy Reese DeOliviera, Evelyn Rose Berry and Ayden David Miraglia. A brother, Charles Jakulewicz and wife, Nancy.

In addition to her late husband, Salvatore, she was preceded in death by her sister, Antonette.

There will be a visitation at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc.27 Washington Street, E. Stroudsburg, PA 18301 on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 9:00 – 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, PA.
