Sara Josephine Pearson Swann, 95, of Chattanooga passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2022. She was born in Chattanooga on April 29, 1926. Jo as she was referred to graduated from Central High School and received her certification from Edmondson Business School. Jo worked as an accountant for both Railway Express Agency and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was a member of the Railway Business Women and served as a Gray Lady at Erlanger Hospital. Jo had a passion for teaching in the Kindergarten Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church for 41 years. She will be deeply missed by her family whom she loved so dearly.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Swann and her parents, James and Blanche Pearson.
Left behind to cherish Jo’s memory are her children Gloria Swann Moore and John Robert Swann, granddaughter Amy McMahon (Mark) Miller, niece and nephews Kim, Denny, Don, Jeff, and Bill Pearson; Ronnie, Larry, and Gary Westmoreland.
A private committal will be held and she will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga Memorial Park alongside her husband. A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 554 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37402 on Thursday April 21, 2022 at 12:00 pm and the family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am.
