I had the pleasure to work with Bob in the early 1970s at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency. He was an intelligent individual who was always available to graciously answer questions that I would often present as a young inexperienced new employee of the agency. He also had a great sense of humor personality that made him fun to be around every day. These characteristics were only exceeded by his love for his family which he often expressed in numerous ways. I will always have great and respectful memories of Bob Shepard.

I remember him well, I worked for the City of Chattanooga in the Data Processing Division in City Hall, across the street from the City Hall Annex back in the late 1960s, and early '70s. I was asked to write a program for land usage in Hamilton County.  My main contact was Bob (always called him Bob). I can remember it was always a pleasure working with him,  he could relate what he needed data-wise and used terms that made it easy for me to understand how to proceed with the programming.
May he rest in Pease, my condolences to his family.
 

I first met Bob in 1963, I was working for the Tennessee State Planning Organization and Bob was with the City of Chattanooga Planning Office.  In 1965 when the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County formed the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission,  Bob was a perfect fit.  After working together for 40 + years I will always remember his  coffee stained cup, corn cob pipe and the sound of his manual olevitti calculator.  With loving memories of Bob and Mary             

Many happy years working with him. I considered him brilliant...he knew everything! He always had Mary and their kids first in his life. He will be missed.
