Mr. Jackson was born in Lancaster County, South Carolina to Harold and Ruby Jackson. He retired from DM Steward as a ceramic engineer and was a member of the American Ceramic Society, Southeastern Section. He was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church belonging to the Pioneer Sunday School Class. He was also owner of Diversified Microfilm Services, Wholesale Office Supplies and currently Jackson Properties.
Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Clemson University and a Golden Tiger; he served with Junior Achievement; as Pack Master for 3007 Cub Scouts at Jones Memorial UMC; a charter member of Lakeview Jaycees where he was the first recipient of the Young Man of the Year award; and was past president of East Ridge Band Aide Club. He served in the US Army and was an officer in the US Army Garrison 3397 in Chattanooga.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret S. Jackson; daughter, Roberta Margaret Jackson; son, Jonathan Bruce (Jeanne) Jackson; grandchildren, Julia Eliana and Josiah Peter Jackson; brother, Ernest C. (Rose) Jackson of Rutherfordton, NC; sister, Gladys Williams of Lancaster, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Blease Jackson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM on Saturday and 2 to 3 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 3PM on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. James Douthat officiating.
Burial will be private.
