Phillip Wilson Harrison

Papa, as he was known to us, longed for heaven and for Mom for over 2 years since her sudden passing, but he also thanked God every day for the gift of another day to live. We are so thankful that his journey of 93 years is now complete.

He was born May 4, 1929 in Spruce Pine, NC. He joined and served the USAF during the Korean War; and shortly after moved to Chattanooga, TN working with Fidelity Credit Company. It was there he met his wife of 62 years, Kittie R (Nipp) Harrison Papa called Chattanooga home for over 65 years. He faithfully served for decades as deacon, usher and Sunday school teacher at Highland Park Baptist Church. He worked on staff at First Presbyterian Church under Ben Haden for 24 years. We rarely went anywhere in the city that someone did not call him by name. He was loved by all that knew him. After retirement he volunteered as conductor on the TVRR and was able to once again enjoy his boyhood love of trains.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kittie Ruth Harrison, his parents, Charles Asbury Harrison and Sena McKinney of Erwin, TN and all of his 7 older siblings.

He is survived by his son, B. Scott Harrison (Tami) and daughter, Susie Harrison Given (Craig). Grandchildren Mandie Burris (Adam), Brandon Harrison, Kari Carver (Ariyel) and Harrison Given and Great-grandchildren, Emilie and Scottie Burris, Isaac, Lydia and Jesse Carver, his Nephew, Doug Harrison (Janet) of Johnson City, TN.

His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 12:30 pm in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening March 7, 2023 from 6-9 pm and again on Wednesday prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga National cemetery alongside his wife, Kittie. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Serving as Pallbearers will be Scott Harrison, Craig Given, Brandon Harrison, Harrison Given, Adam Burris, and Ariyel Carver
