Paul was born on October 28, 1931, and lived most of his life in Chattanooga. He graduated from Kirkman High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Betty King in 1955. They had two children, and he was later blessed with two grandchildren to whom he was devoted. Paul taught us all how to be humble, kind, and to always do the right thing. He will be greatly missed.
Paul loved all his family and made sure he always provided for them. He was a hard worker from the time he was a small boy to his retirement. He worked many places from Jack Phillips grocery store, Jackson Water Heater, delivering ice, Wells Fargo, Dixie Yarns, and ultimately ending up at Southern Centrifugal until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert L. Sr. and Susie (Hawkins) Garner; his wife of 58 years, Betty; sister, Dorothy Barnes; and brothers, Jack and Robert “Bob” Jr. (Grace) Garner.
He is survived by children, Paula (Gary) Tallant and Barry R. Garner; his grandchildren, Alicia (Tim) Vines, Troy (Delaney) Tallant; an expected great-grandchild in July; and several nieces and nephews.
