Patrick John Nolan went home to God, August 18, 2015. Pat was a native of Chattanooga, born February 22, 1953. He was a lifelong practicing Catholic attending Our Lady of Perpetual help Church where he was a founding member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, an outreach to the needy. As a youth he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and his love of hunting, fishing and traveling was fostered. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and served as Grand Master. He worked at Tennessee Plywood and Door Company for 30 years as office manager. He was a member of the Chattanooga Serra Club that prays for and supports vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Pat is survived by his siblings, Nancy A. Nolan and Fr. Michael F. Nolan of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Nolan, Jr. and Josephine Masich Nolan, his step mother, Avis Wilson Nolan and his sister Kathleen Ann Nolan.
Pat’s family will receive friends in Holy Family Hall at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church from 9:30 -11:30 Monday, August 24th, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. Most Reverend Richard F. Stika, Bishop of Knoxville, Father Mike Nolan and priests and deacons of the Diocese of Knoxville will celebrate the funeral liturgy. Pat will be buried in his family plot at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Gerard Jabaly, David Kazanowski, Joe Metcalf, Pat St. Charles III, George Valadie, and Richard Wagner.
A celebration reception of his life will be hosted at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Life Center following the interment.
In lieu of flowers Pat requested that memorial gifts be made to the tuition assistance funds of our Lady of Perpetual Help School, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37412; and Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404 or to the Ladies of Charity of Chattanooga, 2821 Rossville Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37407.
