Misty Carol Murray Mayo, 51, of Chattanooga passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at her home. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Misty was a graduate of Columbia High School in Decatur, GA and Sam Houston High School in Houston, TX. She received her BA in Theatre and Fine Arts from Ole Miss University and was the Director and Producer of pageants. She was General Manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott. She also worked with many charitable organizations. She served as Director of Scared Pink a halloween fund raiser for breast cancer, was a member of HaHa’s and worked with the Stone Mountain Chili Cook Off for the past 20 years.
Misty’s birth parents were Alan and Minnie Lou Murray and her adoptive parents were Ted and Madge McDaniel of Decatur, GA.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Perry Mayo; daughter, Kristi Mayo Riley of Chattanooga; son, Paul Mark (Andrea) Mayo of St. Louis, MO; one granddaughter, Anna Claire Mayo; three brothers, Fritz Murray, David Murray and Michael Murray; one sister, Diane Murray; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Gary Carver and Minister Charles Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. The family will receive friends from 1-8 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM Friday at the church.
