Mary Madglene Overturf

Mary Madglene Overturf - age 88 of Rossville, Georgia, was surrounded by her family as she went to be with our Lord on May 31, 2019. Mary was born August 12, 1930 in Altamont, Tennessee to her parents, Alonzo and Josie Evelina Smith.

She is survived by her children, Don Lee Overturf of Ringgold, Ga., and three daughters, Connie Naomi (David) Couch, of East Ridge, Tn.; Mary Evelyn (Eddie) Sullivan of Rossville, Ga.; Debra Gertrude Pace of East Ridge, Tn.; One brother, Howard (Frances) Smith of Tullahoma, Tn.; two daughters-in-law Mary (Morrison) Overturf, and Cindy (Yates) Overturf.

She has thirteen grandchildren, Dwain Overturf, Crystal Caldwell, Tony Bozzio, John Derrick Couch, Michelle Couch-Cagle, Shannon Monroe, Shane Sullivan, Chuckie Phillips, Stephen Phillips, Craig Overturf, Travis Pace, Taneshia Pace and Wayne Overturf; twenty-five great grandchildren, Coty, J.P., Savannah, Kory, Chase, Sydney Lee ,Piper, Paige, Pierce, Kolby, Kelsey, Skylar, Justin, Shauntaye, (*Stephen’s), Charlie, Gabriella, Jasmine, Austin, Enoch and Jayla (*Wayne’s) and ten great great-grandchildren. Mary had numerous nieces and nephews, and a wonderful extended family of cherished friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clifton Overturf; her four sons, Tony Alton Overturf, Jerry Edward Overturf, Henry Carl Overturf and Johnny Wayne Overturf; her three brothers, Lee Roy Smith, Hubert Smith and George Smith. Also, preceded in death by her three sisters: Gertrude Aho, Lois Bohannon, Ruby Stotts and one daughter-in-law Teresa Gail Overturf.

Mary was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. A complete home maker that loved having family and friends over for cookouts with music and dancing. She will never be forgotten by the many generations of the lives that she has touched. We send her to rest in peace now with all of our love.

The funeral service will be held at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel in East Ridge, TN on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 12 o’clock followed by burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
