She was retired from Big Horn Saddlery as a saddle maker. Maria loved her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making jewelry, painting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her son Leonel Herrera and several siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Sylvia (Samuel) Skipper and Nora Lea (Stewart) Tanner; six grandchildren, Brent Ward, Heather Ward, Joey (Patricia) Hale, Alex Hale, Alexandria Herrera and Diana Herrera; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Santos Cruz; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN with the Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday at the funeral home.
