Marguerite Elizabeth Smith

Marguerite Elizabeth Smith, 87, born February 21, 1933, of East Ridge, TN passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020. She was formerly from Whitwell, Tennessee and worked for many years in Chattanooga where she retired from K-Mart on Highway 58 after 24 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church in Whitwell, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lunie Givens; sister, Madge Kilgore; two brothers, Leonard Givens and Randall Givens and her beloved cat, Jojo.

Surviors include her children. Jean Ann (Gary) Walston, Janice Marlene Smith and Joseph W. Smith, Jr. all of East Ridge, TN; grandchildren, Daniel Walston of Ringgold, GA and Elisha Smith of East Ridge, TN; great-grandchildren, Makayla Walston, Aiden Walston, Ashton Reed and Myla McCrary; a very special niece, Debbie Cecil.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Terry Melvin, Dr. David Collins and Dr. Harish Menyan for the excellent care they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN with the Rev. Dennis Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday and from 10 AM to 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
