Margaret Frances Hearn Dixon, 83, of Chattanooga, TN passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019. She was a member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church where she played piano, directed the choir, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of United Methodist Women. Margaret attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA and North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA. She began her teaching career at Cloud Springs Elementary School and retired from Lakeview Middle School as a math teacher after close to 40 years as a teacher. Margaret had nine United Methodist Ministers in her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Joseph Howell and Velma Kaylor Hearn.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Jack E. Dixon; two daughters, Jacquelyn Repass and Gloria (Stanley) Outland; two grandchildren, Matthew (Anna) and Luke (Hayley); three great-grandchildren, Sullivan, Hendrix and Jaxon; two sisters, Martha (Jim) Schuppe and Dale Davis; two brothers, John (Helen) Hearn and Joe (Susan) Hearn; several nieces and nephews; dogs, Lucky and Leia and cat, Diamond.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday at Newnan Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randall Massengill and the Rev. Jim Elder officiating. Burial will be on Monday at 2 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarkesville, Georgia, hometown of her husband, Jack.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Saturday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
