Kenneth "Ken" Smith

He was a graduate of Central High School and became an electrical contractor in his teens. Mr. Smith owned several businesses until his death. He Joined East Lake Baptist Church as a teenager and remained a member there until they merged with East Ridge Baptist Church (now Crosspath at East Ridge). He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. Ken was a member of the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame and a two time Southern Golden Gloves Champion. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Elecrtical Contractors Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris P. Smith. Survivors include his son, Kenny Smith (Sammye); four daughters, Sheree Ratchford (Ricky), Kathy Kimsey (Kenny), Marie Pryor (Donnie) and Becky Cushen (Stan); 10 grandchildren, Joey Smith (Emily), Heather Wamack (Jason), Casey Smith (Lee), Kendra Rucks (Chad), Brooke Flanagan (Keven), Kris Kimsey, Jeremy Pryor (Rachel), Spencer Cushen, Cody Pryor and Katie Cushen; 13 great-grandchildren, Gracy, Carly, Carter, Hudson, Kaitlyn, Anna, Lila, Taylor, Asher, Darby, Saylor, Riley and Jacob. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at Crosspath at East Ridge with Rev. Mike Feely officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 5-7 PM Sunday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Smith, Casey Smith, Kris Kimsey, Jeremy Pryor, Cody Pryor, Spencer Cushen, Jack Goodlet and Jamie Rodriquez.Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Kitchen, the Ronald McDonald House or the American Alzheimers Association.
