Mr. Eaves was born in Chattanooga to William and Kate Eaves. He was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church and belonged to the Wesley Sunday School Class as well as the Older Adults Group. He was a 50 year member of East Lake Masonic Lodge #698, the Half-Century Club and a previous member of the Brainerd Optimist Club. Mr. Eaves was retired from Flav-O-Rich Dairy as an Area Sales Representative for 46 years and was a WWII US Army veteran.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Bettye Wells Eaves; children, Patricia Eaves (Alfred) Scott, Joseph E. (Linda Witt) Eaves Jr., and Janet Eaves (Timothy) Sherrill; grandchildren, Beth (Jim) Guillot, Stacey (Jimmy) Porter, Jennifer (Jon) Czerwinski, Jonathan Sherrill, Joseph E. (Terri Lynn) Eaves III, Elizabeth Eaves, and Patrick Eaves; 5 great-grandchildren; and Sharon Willis Eaves.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Nora Howard, Eula Cline, Zelma Mullican, Raymond Eaves, Alvin Eaves, and Herbie Eaves.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 26th at the funeral home with Rev. Genevieve DeHoog and Rev. Dennis Flaugher officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or Brainerd United Methodist Church.
