Mr. McCarty was born in Monongahela, Pennsylvania to the late Thelma and John McCarty Sr. He was of the catholic faith and raised in Boston, MA where he lived most of his life and was a pattern maker. He had lived in Chattanooga for the past fifteen years where he belonged and volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed attending the Senior Games at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Mr. McCarty was also a WWII US Navy veteran. .
Survivors include children, Alice (Grady) Lenning, John (Laura) McCarty, Brian (Maria) McCarty, and Edward (Angela) McCarty; grandchildren, Kevin (Tonya) Lenning, Barbara (Tony) Thomas, John McCarty, Robert (Sabrina) McCarty, Jonathon (Candy) Livingston, Brian (Kayla) McDonald, Michael McDonald, William McCarty, Grady (Ari) McCarty, and Morgan McCarty; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Grady, Andrew, Ashlyn, Jaden, Dakota, Zachary, Austin, Emalee Ann, Mason, and Myles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Brian Lenning.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the funeral home with a 7 PM Rosary Service.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with Father Jim Vick officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
