JoAnna Mae Rogers Thompson, age 87, a longtime resident of Chattanooga passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a dedicated lifelong member of Ridgedale Church of Christ, where she was an elder's wife. Her defining characteristic was her concern and care of others much more than for herself. She has passed to her eternal reward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Haston and Bessie Rogers.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband of 67 years in October Jim Thompson; children and spouses, Joy(Sam) Bell and Doug(Melissa) Thompson; grandchildren, Joshua Bell, Marti Russell, Jodi Gallagher, James Thompson, Stephen Thompson and Kati Nuckles; 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside Services will follow at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Minister Ken Willis officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Martin Boyd Christian Home.
