He was a graduate of Kirkman Technical High School and was Co-Owner of Lookout Valley Tool and Machine. “Gov” was an avid golfer having played at over 100 golf courses around the world. He was a member of the Lookout Valley Lions Club for over 25 years serving in various capacities, including District Governor for 12-0 Lions, he also served with Lookout Valley Neighborhood Association. He was an active member of Wauhatchie Methodist Church and served as Trustee Chair. Jerry owned several antique cars over the years and enjoyed taking them to car shows. His favorite pastime was watching and discussing his beloved “Vols”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, David Randolph, sister, Kathryn Rogers and his father-in-law, Waylon Powell.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 20 years, Karen Powell Walls, his children and their spouses, Rodney and Pam Walls, Melody and Robert Flowers, Misty and Joey Smith and Courtney and Clayton Ensminger, grandchildren, Elijah (Rebecca) Walls, Abigail (Wade) McGlamery, Savannah Rains, Gabriel Rains, Emma (Cody) Duggan, Robert Flowers Jr., Raven (Taylor) Smith, Gracyn Smith, and Olivia Evans, great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Sawyer Duggan, mother-in-law, Mary Powell, brother-in-law, Rex Rogers, sister-in-law, Lori ( Mike) Hughes, nieces, Denise (Bruce) Trantham and Michelle (David) Tate, and many dear cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at the Wauhatchie Methodist Church on Thursday October 31, 2024 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tommy Messer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening October 30, 2024 from 4 – 8 pm and again at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 am. He will be laid to rest in the Lakewood Memory Gardens West in Lookout Valley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of CHI Memorial 4 East, Dr. Brooke Daniel and Hearth Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Jerry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in “Gov’s” memory can be made to Lookout Valley Lions Club and/or Wauhatchie Methodist Church.
