James Donald Stevens, 85, of Chattanooga Passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late Maynard and Thelma Slaughter Stevens. He served as a Capt. with the U.S. Army Artillery Corps and was a member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church. He was retired from RSS Insurance Company. Don was an avid fisherman and coached girls softball with the East Ridge Recreation.
Don was also preceded in death by his grandchild Travis Neal, sisters Mary Ann Marlin, Sandra Humble, brother Maynard Stevens Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Joanne Smartt Stevens, children Terry (Mark) Neal of Chattanooga, Donna Stevens of Hixson, Brad Stevens of East Ridge, grandchild Kyle Neal, brother Jack Ronald Stevens of East Ridge.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel with the Rev. David Clay officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
