He was born on March 11, 1930 in Fort Payne, Alabama, to Buford O. Siniard and Gertrude Siniard. He was the oldest of 4 sons.
Hugh grew up in the Lakeview- Fort Oglethorpe area and graduated from Lake View High school in 1948. After high school, he attended college and in 1951 he enlisted in the Air Force and served for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. During his service years, he and Joyce were married and they lived in Germany during his tour there.
When he completed his time in the service, Hugh attended UTK, where he graduated in 1957 with a degree in Business and Finance. In 2007 Hugh was honored as a Golden Grad. Hugh married, Joyce Ann Howard on November 1, 1952. They have been happily married for 62 years. Hugh was an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Hugh created, owned and operated Central Real Estate for over 50 years. Hugh earned several prestigious designations through continuing education, service, and professionalism, including being Chattanooga's first graduate of the Realtor's Institute. He also earned the National Association of Realtors designations of Certified Residential Specialist and Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager.
During his career, Hugh was elected Realtor of the year by the Chattanooga Association of Realtors, (CAR). He served as President of CAR, First Vice President of the Chattanooga Home Builders Association and State President of the Certified Real Estate Brokerage Managers. He has been awarded four different citations by the National Association of Home Builders.
Throughout his career, Hugh was a member of the Chattanooga State, National Association of Realtors.
Hugh was very involved in his community. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Taxpayers Association, City Farmers and Gideon’s International. Hugh was also a member and at one time, the president of the Brainerd Kiwanis Club and he was recognized for 40 years of perfect attendance and service to the club. In addition, Hugh served on the Hamilton County Board of Zoning and Appeals, the City of Chattanooga Sign Board and various other City and County Boards and committees.
The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners issued Hugh a certificate of Appreciation. He was named the City of Chattanooga Ambassador of Goodwill and named in Personalities of the South. \
Because of his community involvement, he was affectionately called, "The Mayor of Brainerd" and was known as the Rainbow Man because he was spreading God's word by passing out pocket sized pop open scripture cards.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, B.O. and Gertrude Siniard and his three brothers, Bert Siniard, Bill Siniard and Mack Siniard.
Hugh is survived by his spouse, Joyce Howard Siniard of Chattanooga, TN: His daughters, Debra Siniard Stinnett, (Andrew), Denver CO. Brenda G. Siniard, Chattanooga, TN and son, Mark A. Siniard, (Elaine) Chattanooga, TN; Granddaughters, Wesley Siniard, Knoxville, TN, Caroline Siniard, Chattanooga, TN; Grandsons, Andrew Stinnett, Chattanooga, TN, and Zachary Stinnett, Chattanooga, TN and one great grandson, Andrew River Stinnett, also of Chattanooga, TN; many nieces and nephews.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, Brainerd Kiwanis Club, Gideon’s International, Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the East Chapel with Dr. Bill Owens, Rev. Bob Segrest and Vernon Cox officiating. Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harvest Sunday School Class of the Ridgedale Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
