Helen was born to the late Dr. John and Gertrude Huff, in Oklahoma City, OK on October 29th, 1917. She graduated high school in New Orleans, LA at the age of 16 and received her degree from Baylor University in Texas in 1938. Helen went on to study voice at the Grace Moore School of Music in New York City. She served as a Red Cross nurse’s aide during World War II at Erlanger Hospital and later retired from Memorial Hospital, both in Chattanooga, TN.
Helen was a devout Christian having grown up as the daughter of Dr. John Huff, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Chattanooga. As an adult, she attended Brainerd Baptist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. She was a prayer warrior, who supported numerous ministries and international missionaries.
Helen was blessed with a loving family. She is survived by her daughter Carol Sharp and her husband Paul of Dacula, GA, and daughter-in-law Marsha Johnson of Irmo, SC; eight grandchildren, Chris Darras, Kimberly Sharp, Emily Hynds, David Sharp, Lydia Reynolds, Sam Darras, Elizabeth Fulcher, Matt Sharp; and fifteen great-grandchildren; Michael and Alex Darras, Hannah and Joshua Hynds, Dakota, Mackenzie and Rylie Sharp, Zoe and Henry Darras, Elijah, Olivia, and Caleb Fulcher, Peter, Daniel and Jonathan Reynolds. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Johnson and son, George Johnson.
She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at home with the Lord. Helen will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at a later date.
