She was a member of Spring Creek Church of God where she had taught Sunday School for 55 years. She had previously been employed at DuPont and had been a hairdresser at Bella Roma Salon. Gladys was an avid reader and gifted artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orville B. Satterfield; parents, John Huey and Pauline Culpepper Benefield; brother Bobby Joe Benefield; sister Shirley Curtis.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Wigley-Turner (Zane), Angie Satterfield Jeffers (Gary) and Lisa Satterfield Hamilton (Mike); seven grandchildren, Todd Wigley, Scott Wigley, Lindsay Kellis, Kristy Craig, Becky Henry, Tiffany Taylor and Sarah Wells; seven great-grandchildren; brother Charles Benefield (Bettye), several nieces and nephews and her best friend Joyce Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Bennie Mills officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
