Mrs. Whitton was born in Dutton, Alabama to Elmer and Bertha Powell and was a graduate of Scottsboro High School. She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church where she belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School class. She retired as the manager of the Free Press Credit Union with 28 years of service and was a member of the Free Press Retiree’s Group.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Herschel Whitton; sons, Jeff (Aricia) Whitton and Barry Whitton; grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Julie, Alexis, Alaina, and Jake.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM on Tuesday, November 16th at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 17th at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Ray Marler officiating.
