Frederick (Fred) C. Williamson Jr. passed away Tuesday January 23, 2018 following a brief illness. Survivors include wife Joyce, daughter Leslie Ann Williamson of Antioch, step son Chris Hannah, daughter-in-law Stephanie Hannah, Granddaughters Kelda Lynn Sturgis of College Grove, Savanna Hannah of Chattanooga and Grandson Garrick Hannah.
He is preceded in death by wife Gail M. Williamson, son Frederick Williamson III and brother Floyd M. Williamson.
Fred was born in Birmingham Alabama, Graduated from University of Alabama with Mechanical engineering degree. Having been commissioned 2nd Lt in USAR-CE, member of Scabbard and Blade military honor society and designated military graduate and later served as Army commander in Korea and retired LT COL.
He moved to Chattanooga to manage the industrial tool division of Moore Handley before becoming owner and President of Chattanooga Saw and Supply where he added an industrial tool division.
Fred has been active in civic affairs in Chattanooga having served on two mayor appointed committees, active in the Jaycees, President of Chattanooga Boys Choir, Board member and Treasurer of Family Service Agency, United Fund Allocations committee and Chairman of Metropolitan Council for Community Services.
He served on Committee on Aging, was chairman of Tennessee Commission on Aging and helped to instigate Portable Meals on Wheels in Chattanooga.
Fred was board member and Secretary Treasurer of Chattanooga Manufacturers Association, Board member and Treasurer for Society of Manufacturing Engineers, member of Allied Arts Fund, charter member of Bluff Furnace Association and Chairman of Chattanooga chapter of Alabama Alumni.
Fred was a member of Chattanooga Engineers Club, A.S.M.E. and Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Free Enterprise committee. He served on Distributor Advisory Board of Mystic Tape, Carborundum Company, Ingersoll Rand Company and Norton’s D.A.C. He was recently honored as one of the longest continuous contributors to United Way also honored for his many years of donation to the Chattanooga Blood Bank.
Fred was an avid golfer having held membership at Creeks Bend Golf Course, Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and Bent Tree Golf Club of Jasper Georgia where he owned a home. His love for gardening was enjoyed throughout the neighborhood as he loved sharing his blueberry crop with friends and neighbors.
Fred was an active member of Brainerd United Methodist church having been a member of the McFerrin Sunday School Class, also served as Chairman of Trustees Committee, Finance Committee, Endowment Committee and headed several fund raising projects. He was a former member of First Centenary United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board, served on Inter City Social Concerns Committee and also was intermediate boy’s teacher for many years.

Visitation scheduled Saturday 4:00-6:00 PM with funeral service, celebration of A LIFE WELL LIVED, at 6:00 PM with reception to follow. Chattanooga Funeral Home on Moore Road.
Graveside Services will be at 10 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
