Edna McGowan Robertson, 84, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Friday evening, April 3, 2015 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born and raised in Fackler and Wannville, Alabama, moved to Chattanooga and worked with South Central Bell AT&T and retired with 40 years of service. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Robertson; parents Charles and Theona McGowan; sisters, Elizabeth Qualls, and Lois Welch; brother, Walter “Bud” McGowan.
She is survived by son, J. Fred Robertson; daughter, Freida (Rex) Wheeler; three grandchildren, Joshua (Vickie) Smith, Adam (Loraine) Smith and Allie Robertson; five great grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Brother James Helton and Brother Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 on Monday and 12-1 Tuesday.
Those who choose may make a donation to Alexian Brothers PACE program, in memory of this special woman, mother and grandmother.
The family would like to extend special thanks and acknowledgement to the PACE Center, and all their employees, who are angels on earth to their participants and their families. Unable to live alone any longer due to this vicious disease, with PACE’s assistance, she was able to live with her daughter and son-in-law for ten wonderful years and enabled all our family to enjoy the special, loving , joyous, sweet, wonderful person she was.
