Dot’s family and friends remember her as a kind-hearted, gracious woman whose loving spirit enveloped all those around her.
She was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky, but later moved to Chattanooga to raise her family. A long-time resident of East Ridge, Dorothy was a faithful member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. After retiring from Loveman’s Department Store in East Ridge, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Radford C. Northington; her sisters, Lida Beasley and Sally Bullen; brothers, Ruby, Johnny, Parker, Paul, Howard, and Charlie Stines; stepmother, Maude Stines; stepbrother, John Stines; and stepsister, Juanita Wood.
She leaves a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Larry Wagner. Other family members left to cherish her memories include grandchildren and their spouses: Tammy and Scott Fowler, of Orlando; Toni and Jeff Fountain, of Chattanooga; and Larry and Joy Wagner, of Rossville. She was blessed with five precious great-grandchildren: Kristen and Frank Fowler, Tim Fountain, Kayla Morris and Katie Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 PM and from 12 Noon to 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with The Rev. David R. Hackett officiating.
Graveside Services will be at 12:30 PM on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
