Diane attended Chattanooga (City) High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband of 58 years. She was a devoted homemaker for many years and loved helping at her husband’s independent insurance agency.
She enjoyed time with her family and making her home a warm place where everyone was welcome and well fed. Her hobbies included reading, crosswords, Westerns and studying her Bible. She was a steadfast Christian who loved Jesus and sharing His word whenever possible. She was a longtime member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron D. Carter and Ellen Gibbs Carter; brother, Doug Carter; and brother-in-law Virlon Veal.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Walter L. “Skeeter” Williams, daughter Dana Wilson (Roger), son Brett Williams (Keri) and grandson Carter Williams; sister Joan Veal; sister-in-law Linda Carter; and many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A memorial service for Diane will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel (404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412). It will be preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Chris Powell, associate pastor at Northshore Fellowship.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
