She attended school at Mars Hill Elementary and Bishop McGuinness Catholic School in
Kernersville, North Carolina, where she excelled. She graduated at 16 years of age from T C Roberson
High School in Asheville, North Carolina. She then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics
from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she graduated with honors.
Through her career, which included several teaching roles, she held various positions including
employment at Wachovia Bank in Whiteville, North Carolina, and Brock Candy Company in Chattanooga.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Trantham, three daughters, Alexis, Katherine, and Carolyn,
and seven wonderful grandchildren, all of the Chattanooga area. She is also survived by her mother, M.
L. Ammons of Arden, North Carolina, and a sister, Sandra Crisp of Flat Rock, North Carolina.
A private service was held Monday, April 23, 2018.
