Charles Knight Clayton, 81, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at his home. Charles was a graduate of Kirkman High School. He had been a Deacon at Harmony Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for over 25 years before moving to Anchor of Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon as well. Charles was retired from Wheland Foundry as a Metallurgist after 37 ½ years of service. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Yancy and Georgia Clayton; three brothers, Edwin Clayton, James Clayton and Wayne Clayton; two sisters, Judy Wehunt and Dot Agee.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Clayton; son, Dennis (Wendy) Clayton; daughter, Pam (Kent) Pettyjohn; sister, Jean Coffman; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Clayton and Ann Trentham; several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens South with Don Key officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
