Carl Detlef Meyer, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 28th in Van Buren, Arkansas at the age of 90. Carl was born on December 4, 1931 to Augusta (Pfitzer) and Carl Meyer, Sr. in the Chattanooga area. He is a member of First Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated from Central High in Chattanooga and continued with many various jobs including farming and cattle. He spent the last few years in Arkansas where he was cared for by family.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, sisters Augusta (Gussie), Mary Margaret, and Louise, his brother Clifford, and nephews Timothy Nelson and David Smith. He is survived by nieces Mary (Arthur) Pruitt of Arkansas, Viola Rose (John) Mercer of Texas, and Christina Edgeman of Georgia, nephews Martin (June) Gehring, Robert (Brenda) Gehring, Kenneth (Brenda) Gehring and Richard Gehring of Arkansas, Daniel (Lee) Smith of Chattanooga, Christopher (Jennifer) Meyer of Texas, and Luther (Jayna) Meyer of Virginia and many more great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 4 at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel at 404 S Moore Road in East Ridge from 5-8. Funeral will be at 1PM Saturday at First Lutheran Church at 2800 McCallie Ave. in Chattanooga with interment to follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery in Red Bank.
