She was born on March 10, 1933 to the late Albert and Lucille Gossett. She was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Gregory Tate and sister, Marie Pauline Long.
Betty was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. She loved her family and they were her greatest joy in life. Betty was an avid music lover. She was an organist and pianist at Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church for 50 years. She also sang in duets and quartets for 50 years. She was a Telephone Operator at Bell South and an Engineer Draftsman at AT&T, where she retired after 30 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Ralph Aaron Tate; children, Gregory (Carol) Tate, Melissa (Tim) White and Teresa (David) Powell; grandchildren, Timothy (Amanda) White, Renee White, Tyler (Amber) Gross, Krista (Adam) Rich, Katherine Tate and Elizabeth Tate; great- grandchildren, Levi White, Ian White and Wyatt Gross; special friends, Toni Munsey and Teresa Dill.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday August 8, 2017 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Richard Byers and Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
