Betty Jane Epps Painter passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was born August 19, 1925 in Athens, GA the only daughter of Carl and Claudine Henry Epps. Betty grew up in Rome, GA where she graduated from Cooper Hall School. She attended Shorter College and the University of Georgia where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
A member of Brainerd United Methodist Church, she was active in United Methodist Women and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Betty was an avid gardener, a wonderful artist, a fan of University of Georgia football and a happy, loving friend to many.
Survivors include her husband, David Mason Painter; daughters, Suzanne (Andy) Nolan of Lookout Mountain, Janet (Michael) Hays of Mt. Juliet, TN; Charlotte (Keith) Stafford of Niceville, FL; son, David Mason Painter, Jr. of Biloxi, MS; seven loving grandchildren, Lauren Nolan (Henry) Glascock, Christina Nolan (Drew) Jones, Nickolas (Brandy) Hays, Patrick (Danielle) Hays and Molli King Hays all of Mt. Juliet, TN, Suzanne Stafford (Rob) Russell and Jennifer Stafford (Derrick) Cunningham; eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Friday at Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Painter residence, 112 Asbury Drive, Chattanooga, TN, following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or to the Brainerd United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4315 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Road.
