Beatrice Best Owens, age 91, of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Beatrice was born in Belltown, TN on May 28, 1923. She lived in Maryville, TN for many years until she moved to East Ridge, TN in 1991. She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and an active participant in the 55 & Alive Group. Beatrice loved her family, her friends, and her flower gardens.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Hobert B. Owens, along with her parents, Charlie and Susie Stratton Best; sisters Carrie Best, Louie Tallent and Jean Cosnahan; brothers Jake, Ray and Charles Best, Jr.; and grandson, Rusty Owens.
Beatrice is survived by sons, James Owens and wife, Rosemary, of Knoxville, TN; Eugene Owens and wife, Pat, of Morristown, TN, and Bill Owens and wife, Judy, of East Ridge, TN; grandchildren, Jim Owens and wife, Cindy, of Stanley, NC, Terri Owens Llinas and husband, Joseph, of Cocoa Beach, Florida and Angie Owens of Rossville, GA and her mother, Pat Hitson Owens of East Ridge, TN and great-grandchildren, Gabriela and Joseph Llinas.
Other survivors include: Sisters, Geraldine Murphy and JoAnn (Loyd) Potter of Maryville, TN; Helen Jones and Kay (Bill) Saffles of Madisonville, TN, and Brenda Hamby and Linda Harrill of Sweetwater, TN; Brothers, Raymond (Pat) Best of Madisonville, TN and Joe (Brenda) Murphy of Maryville, TN; Sisters-in-law, Lucille and Virginia Best; niece Mary Davis and many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its thanks for the care and compassion provided to Beatrice by Southern Heritage Assisted Living, the Third Floor Nursing Staff at Parkridge Medical Center, and Hospice of Chattanooga.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Chattanooga Funeral Home in East Ridge, TN. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Lawrence Clark officiating. The burial and a graveside service will be held at Carpenters Campground United Methodist Church in Maryville, TN on Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. with a receiving of friends to follow in the church fellowship building.
