Aunt Annie was the truest example of a Christian that I ever knew.  She lived her life for the Lord and she lived her life to serve Him and to serve others.  She was a praying woman and had a very intimate and personal relationship with God.  She walked close with Him and He walked close with her.

When the bible speaks of a Godly woman in Proverbs 31, my Aunt Annie comes to mind.  She had a tremendous influence on me as early as I can remember.  I remember riding my bike to her house to see her (and Uncle Bill) and she would always meet me with a smile, a big hug, and a snack of some kind (usually homemade).   

I know that over the course of my life, she's prayed many hours just for me.  I know because she told me so and I know because God's hand was at work so many times when I didn't even realize it in different situations where the outcome was totally out of my control,  and I am confident that He heard and answered the prayers that Aunt Annie lifted up on my behalf.  

She was a wonderful sister to my mother Mildred, and would always stop by and check on her and come to see her when she was in the hospital time and time again.   When my mother passed, it was Aunt Annie that my father called first.  He knew the strength that Aunt Annie would bring to a situation and to the family in a time a crisis.  And when he called her, she came, as she always did.  Always faithful, always loyal.   Aunt Annie stood by me at my mother's casket and offered me words of wisdom and comfort that I have carried with me for the last 16 years and have often shared with others when they've lost friends and loved ones.

Aunt Annie was a wonderful daughter.  One of my earliest memories as a child was the care she provided my grandmother and grandfather Picklesimer.  She took on the role of caretaker, nurse, house keeper, gardener, and was a parent to her elderly parents.   She was a Godly servant.  She showed how much she loved by the sacrifice she made for others through her acts of compassion and love.

She was a wonderful wife.  Even when Uncle Bill would try and take my Halloween candy (all in fun of course), Aunt Annie would quickly stop him from teasing a little 5-6 year old girl who wanted to hold onto all the candy and popcorn balls that Aunt Geneva had provided at the trick-or-treat stop right before stopping at her house on Sylvan.  She and I talked about that many times over the years and laughed.  

She was dedicated, loyal, and active church member.  She didn't miss church and she counted it a privilege to participate in corporate worship.  She loved the music and she loved the Word of God.   She loved being in and feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit.   She was honored many times formally for her years of service within the church.   I also remember many homecomings we'd go to at her church and I can still taste her turkey and dressing, fried okra, and the best coconut cake this side of heaven.  

She was a good listener.  I've spent hours over the years talking to Aunt Annie about life, what she would do in a given situation and she always gave me Godly advise and wisdom.   And when I look back, she was always right because she always gave advise based on God's word and based on her own experiences as a woman.   

But of all the things Aunt Annie WAS, there is no doubt of what she IS today.  She IS in Heaven with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  She has earned her reward and she has relocated to her permanent heavenly home.  She loved talking about heaven and how it would be.  I can only imagine how happy she is and how happy she is to finally be reunited with so many who have gone on before her - but most of all she is happy to finally meet Jesus face to face.  

She will be missed but she will not be forgotten.  The impact she's made and the testimony of her life will live on through eternity.   Well done thou good and faithful servant, well done.

I miss you Aunt Annie and I love you very much.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
