She was born August 24, 1937 in Pekin to James and Sophia (Eilers) Taylor. She married Clifford Elliott on June 4, 1955 . He survives.
Also surviving is their son, Cliff (Linda) Elliott Jr., of Pekin, five grandchildren, Dustyn (Lucy) Elliott of Bartonville, Sherin (Phil) Kunz of Morton, Breyan (Wes Fuller) Vollmer of Manito, Jeremy (Ashley) Elliott of Pekin, and Josh (Emily) Elliott of Dunlap; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, a daughter Donna Vollmer and a grandson Bobby Vollmer.
Joann was a homemaker and devoted her life to her husband, kids, and grandkids and loved hosting family holiday celebrations. She also worked cleaning homes and the Nearly Nu in Pekin.
She was a member of Oak Grove Bible Church where she was a part of the Hearts & Hands ladies ministry. She loved playing bingo, assembling puzzles, doing word puzzles in books and giving people hugs.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2023, with visitation from 9:30 am until the start of the service at Oak Grove Evangelical Bible Church in East Peoria. The Rev. Mark Friday will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
